Dear America

So this is a blog post directed to America.

Dear America,

Over the last 10 hours, I have seen two videos where men have been shot and killed by Police Officers. You know why that is?  I am not saying they're racist but shooting black men because they're doing nothing makes it look like racism and because white police officers think that these men will retaliate and assault them. The men that I saw in the videos had no weapons on them. One was on the ground, held down by a police officer and didn't seem to be struggling but the police officer took the matter into his own hands, put the gun over the man's chest and shot him.

Since January 1st 2016, over 600 people have been shot by police officers (Souce: http://killedbypolice.net/). When will this police brutality stop? When will they realise that these police officers have no right to shoot people if the person is not retaliating against the Officer? These officers kill these people and then do not get charged for killing these people.

Yesterday Philando Castile's girlfriend live streamed on Facebook what had happened after her boyfriend had been shot. He had been asked if he had a gun and was asked for identification and then the officer opened fire on the man. What right did the officer have to shoot the man? He was not holding the gun or threatening the officer. He was simply sitting in his car because the officer pulled them over due to a broken tail light. But shooting a man because he had a gun and was black? Black people are more prone to be shot by officers than white people due to the officers being racist and the stereotypes that they have placed on these people.

America, you really need to sort yourself and your gun laws. If a person is unarmed and not fighting you and is down on the ground like Alton Sterling was, you do not have the right to shoot him. You do not have the right to hurt a perpetrator if they are not a danger to you or the community at that time.

If these two crimes had happened and the victims were both white, this would be taken very differently. They probably wouldn't have been shot because of their skin colour. The amount of racism that is present in America is disgusting and I am not saying that all police officers are racist but those who have shot and killed people when they're unarmed and not fighting. If this happened in England, the officer would most likely be in jail because they killed an unarmed person.

You really need to look at your gun laws and the people who are police officers. America will not become a better country with officers shooting men because of their skin colour. Police brutality is the most awful thing that police officers can do.

Change for the better America, for all of us.

Disclaimer: this is my own opinion and all that I have said are my thoughts on the situation of Police Brutality.

I Left Home...

So some but not many people will know this due to me keeping it quiet and away from social media because I was told by someone "you'll put something on Facebook or Twitter about this" and I wanted to prove them wrong so I decided to wait a while and then write a blog post about it. When I was 16, I wanted to be myself and be independent so I made myself more mature and thought about decisions before making one due to my past where I had rushed decisions which would often lead to the wrong choice. Now that I am 18, I know the "big wide world" is scary and that going out there alone will be tough. Last Thursday, I was pushed to my limit where I couldn't stand feeling trapped and alone anymore and made the decision to leave home. It was a big decision, a really big one. I didn't know if I would come back or if I would ever see my guardian again because I didn't wanna be there if I was going to be treated like I was 10 years old. I'm going to ...

It's March?

It's nearly March and that means it is already 3 months into the year equalling to a 1/4 of the year. Already it is going slow but at the same time I am happy it is going fast. I am sad its going slow as it is my last year in secondary school and I want my exams over and my coursework handed in but also going fast means I don't live the next 7 months slowly and getting the best out of every minute. One thing I would love to do is be one of those people on Pinterest or Tumblr who have the time to cook and make these amazing things while I sit at my desk doing my work. I would love to start cooking amazing things like what I see on Pinterest. I also want to go travelling, I am already ready for summer. I miss the sun. In summer, the nights get longer and the days feel endless, it is such a good feeling when you're near a beach and you just listen to music taking in the sun. I haven't really been on holiday since moving out of my parents house when I was 11. Sure, I ha...

Life is too Short..

Over the weekend, we have heard that Christina Grimmie was shot dead at her concert in Orlando and a mass shooting again in Orlando at Pulse nightclub where over 50 people were killed. This has to stop. Gun control needs to be in place otherwise these attacks will keep happening in the future. It makes me think though, life is too short. Life is too short to worry about things. Do things that make you happy and that make you feel alive. Don't feel sad because something is over, feel happy because it happened and then find something else to focus on. If you focus on the good things, you will have a better life. Yes there will be ups and downs but getting out of the downs will make you a stronger person. If you lead your life on negatives you will not get happier and you won't find the positives to focus on. Take life by the balls and live life to the fullest because I promise you, you will find those things that make you happy and that make you want to jump up and down in jo...
